Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Ne Obliviscaris/Omega Infinity’s Xenoyr as he revealed the new Ne Obliviscaris album has been postponed. However, this gives him more time to focus on the music, videos and art he has planned for it.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

I’ve quite a few creative outlets and so that’s been taking up a lot of my time. The NeO album recording has been postponed somewhat due to the virus and so this has allowed me more time to work on ideas for lyrics and vocal phrasings for the album, and also planning for our music videos and art. I’ve a few other music endeavours I’m working on and so have needed to spread my time, plus I’m doing a lot of digital art for other bands. Quarantine/isolation isn’t an issue for me, I could go months without talking to anyone.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I don’t really listen to playlists, but albums on rotation lately are; Medico Peste’s ‘Black Bile’, Killing Joke’s ‘Pylon’, Fluistereers’ ‘Bloem’, Night Crowned’s ‘Impius Viam’, Devil Doll’s ‘Eligabalus’, and I finally got around to Cattle Decapitation’s last release, ‘Death Atlas’.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

Considering the amount of time spent indoors and trying to save money, I do tend to make a lot more of my own food now. Funny you should mention bread though, I’ve been making my own for quite some time anyway and so it’s no different for me, and I make a lot of my own hummus, the vegan’s best friend. In general what I make/prep hasn’t changed a great deal.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

Well, I don’t play computer games, they tend to be far too time intensive, and so I’ll allow myself various times throughout the week to watch a movie or series episode. Having said that, currently enjoying the Westworld series (bit of a mindfuck), and movie wise I’ve seen, The Platform (interesting concept which has reminded me a little of the whole hoarding and lack of self restraint experience we’re in), also I have a general interest in post-apocalyptic themed movies and so have been trying sift through them. I haven’t read a great deal lately, mainly snippets on various historical references I’d noted for developing my art pieces.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

Enjoy this blessing in disguise (death and financial strain aside), use it wisely and productively. This may happen once in your lifetime, so develop your family relationships, increase your knowledge, work on your more human side…and stay the fuck away from online herd mentality.
