Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Sionis’ Lee Stanhope as he’s been spending this time working on promoting the band.
What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?
I have been spending most of my free time working on promotion for the band and tracking for our album of course, but outside of band activity I have been taking my dog to parks, camping, playing board games and video games, and watching what some might consider ‘too much’ Star Trek.
Note by Terence: I have been enjoying time with my two children, practicing our music and spending many hours recording vocal tracks in the booth, as well as completing every side quest in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake!
Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?
Sure, I am a music junky, and am always going through new albums. I am not much of a playlist person, but I can definitely recommend a few albums I have been listening to recently. Check out Sundowning by Sleep Token, The Death of Me by Polaris, and Ultraviolet by Misery Signals. My favourite album of all time is Ten by Pearl Jam.
Note from Terence: If you have not heard the new Album from The Ghost Inside, you need to! it’s amazing and powerful. It was written after the band suffered a tragedy together and after a hiatus and recovery period resulting from this tragedy. The album has many amazing themes and messages on it and the musicality is phenomenal!
A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?
I have been experimenting a lot with my new pressure cooker. I’m really trying to perfect curry and beef stew.
Note from Terence: I have gotten a lot of use out of my BBQ this summer – it’s an excuse to stand out on my balcony, breathe fresh air, and stare at the skyline in the distance.
In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?
I haven’t watched many movies or read many books this year, but I have watched a lot of Star Trek. I have also been getting into the new Microsoft Flight Simulator with a couple of my friends.
Note from Terence: I watched the entire collection of The Office over COVID – one of the best life decisions I have ever made. I have not laughed that hard at pretty much anything else ever. Ever.
What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?
Find activities that give back to you, and try to improve upon yourself. Take up a new hobby, learn a new skill, and organize that one drawer in your kitchen that you throw everything into. You know the one.
