Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Protokult’s Martin Drozd as he’s been spending this time writing.
What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?
Writing, reading, staying fit (exercise in various forms), and of course catching up on classic cinema.
Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?
I’ve been rediscovering some Gogol Bordello discography, new Paradise Lost and Blut Aus Nord are all excellent too.
A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?
I’m a meat and potatoes kinda guy so I haven’t been picky. The wife is a vegetarian so fish and salads have become the norm, which considering my lifestyle, is certainly a healthy switch!
In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?
Lawrence of Arabia, old mafia movies, Braveheart, mostly classics that have slipped under the radar or haven’t been seen in ages. As for TV shows, I thought Hunters (Al Pacino) was fairly well done and is based on some surprising facts, as well as a Canadian sci-fi show called The 100. With literature, I’ve been rereading some classic Lovecraft catalogue as well as Jordan Peterson and John Reed’s Ten Days That Shook The World.
What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?
Get into any kind of routine, stay active, stay engaged, and DISENGAGE from constant news bombardment and fear tactics!
