Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Melvins drummer Dale Crover as he’s been keeping himself busy catching up with classic films. Dale also suggests everyone to listen to every Melvins record ever.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

I would’ve been in Europe right now with Redd Kross. I’m just trying to make the best of the unexpected time off. I don’t mind staying at home. I get to spend more time with family and there’s always something here to keep me busy.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

Always! I’m working on a special pandemic playlist right now for iTunes. They’re featuring Ipecac artists playlists. I have a theme going with mine. It starts with “30 Days In The Hole” by the amazing Humble Pie.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

We’ve definitely been making lots of things at home. We have a combination instapot/ air fryer that gets used quite a bit. Everything from faux fried chicken to chicken tikka masala has been made in that. I’m not sure what the deal is with baking bread during a pandemic, but my wife is making some as we speak!

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

We’ve been watching all kinds of movies; Ten Commandments, Jumanji, Network, Paper Moon, Every James Bond film, The Hobbit, A Hard Day’s Night… Playing poker, mini ping pong, Rummikub, laser tag…

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

I’d say now is a good time to listen to every Melvins record ever. By the time you’re done this should be all over.
