Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Insect Ark’s Dana Schechter (bass/lap steel/synths) as she’s been spending this time trying to ignore the internet.

What have you been doing to pass time during the pandemic?

I’ve been hustling for work, sleeping, learning software, riding my bike, watching films, and trying to ignore the internet.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I’ve been revisiting classics, much of it non-metal, and also learning about subgenres of metal I haven’t had as much experience with.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

I don’t eat bread, sadly. I’m spending time cooking vegetables in a somewhat distracted manner, as per usual.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

Mostly classic film directors like Hitchcock and Carpenter but also some lower rent stuff, or watching films with all their sequels.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

Know that we miss you, as much as you miss us.
