Metal By Numbers 8/15: The charts are showing Integrity

Posted by on August 15, 2018

Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

It’s admittedly not a very busy week here at MBN. It’s a small list of debuts without any big names. More will be coming during the month, though the big kahuna for the month, Alice In Chains, won’t show up until the very end. But, hey, while you’re waiting, why not just whine about how “Halestorm isn’t metal!” for the umpteenth time? That’s not me trying to be snide, I mean go ahead and do that. There’s a “so-and-so isn’t metal” quota that needs to be filled, and someone’s gotta do it.

Notable Debuts:

Integrity / Krieg, Split (Relapse)
460 sold

This is the latest release from two band’s with many split releases: Krieg has previously released material with Leviathan and Wolvhammer while Integrity’s last split was with Power Trip.

Earth Groans, Rahab(Solid State)
450 sold

This is the band’s second EP.

Soreption, Monument Of The End (Sumerian)
300 sold

This is the tech death band’s third album.

Lord Of The Lost, Thornstar (Napalm)
230 sold

This is the German band’s sixth album.

A 79% drop in week two, but this is still in the top 15.

Deafheaven, Ordinary Corrupt Human Love (Anti-)

The band’s current tour helps give this a 46% boost.

Nine Inch Nails, Bad Witch (The Null Corporation)
#141 (from 115)
870 sold

A 12% drop. Guess people prefer Bad Wolves over Bad Witches.

Judas Priest, Firepower (Columbia)
#159 (from 157)
780 sold

A tiny 1% boost.

Greta Van Fleet, Black Smoke Rising EP (Republic)
#169 (from 197)
740 sold

A 17% boost and still only one of two bands with two albums on the charts. Also, lots of you guys don’t seem to like either band, which begs the question: who do you hate more? Greta Van Fleet for sounding like Led Zeppelin or Five Finger Death Punch for sounding like Five Finger Death Punch?

A Perfect Circle, Eat The Elephant (BMG)
#173 (from 156)
710 sold

A 8% drop.

Mike Shinoda, Post Traumatic (Warner Bros.)
#190 (from 186)
640 sold

A 4% drop.

Immortal, Northern Chaos Gods (Nuclear Blast)

A boost of 62% is a good kind of chaos.

Michael Romeo, War Of The Words Pt. 1  (Music Theories)
290 sold

A 72% second week drop.

Obscura, Diluvium (Relapse)
290 sold

A boost of 40%.

Not sure where this came from, but Immortal must be feeling the love right now.

220 sold

A 29% drop.

Awake At Last, Life/Death/Rebirth (Self-Released)
210 sold

This got boosted up last week but I missed it. It got another boost of 37% this week.

Redemption, Long Night’s Journey Into Day (Metal Blade)
200 sold

A 71% drop in week two.
