Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
I’m not always sure what to write about in this little blurb. Sometimes it’s a soapbox, sometimes it’s just typical intro fluff. This week, I decided to look into how many album covers prominently feature Abbath’s signature corpse painted mug. Between his Immortal discography and solo discography, there’s ten albums, and out of all those albums there are only three that do not feature Abbath’s face. These include Immortal’s debut album Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism, the highly regarded At the Heart of Winter, and All Shall Fall, the last Immortal album to feature Abbath. I wonder how many different album covers you can make with just a close up of his face? Guess we’ll find out.
