Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
There’s some bands I feel like I see on here all the time. Others feel less frequent. Most of this has to do with not just album sales, but how widely bands vary on time between album releases. You likely know that many bands operate on an every two maybe three year album cycle depending on how extensive touring is. But then you have bands like Cave In, whose members are all involved in different projects (and who suffered the loss of bassist Caleb Scofield) or Pelican, who are putting out their first release since 2015 and first full length since 2013. Sometimes I can’t believe it’s been so long since a band’s last release. I remember listening to Enthroned’s last album in 2014 but that feels so long ago. As far as bands I see all the time, well, I’m sure you can figure that out on your own.
