Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
Last week, I was slapping my hand to my forehead over the realization that we’re entering a new decade. It might not sound like too big of a deal, but in addition to putting together a Best of 2019 list, now I have to go back and round up what I think was the best music out of the whole decade. It’s kind of daunting, not least of all because I know there’s so much music out there I haven’t experienced yet, so I have no idea what gems I’ll end up stumbling over when everyone ends up putting out best of the decade lists. But I’ve been enjoying going back and listening to albums that I haven’t heard in a while to make sure they’re still good. For the most part they are, and that makes me happy.
