When you’re a musician of a high caliber band and world notoriety, you cross a threshold that puts you with musical legends of every genre. The most recent artist to do that was Metallica’s Kirk Hammett as he joined British music icon Elton John onstage during his performance in Las Vegas.
Hammett performed with Sir Elton this past Saturday night, April 30th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada to perform “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting.” As odd as you may think this is, Hammett was very eager about the show as he’s stated many times that John has been a great influence on his music:
“When I was a young kid… I had decided to make a point of going out to the record store and buying albums from artists that I heard on the radio. It was Elton John, it was David Bowie, it was KISS, it was Thin Lizzy and it was Led Zeppelin.”
Despite what you may think, it’s good to see someone sharing stage with one of his idols and actually being well received, unlike another Metallica member who didn’t have such a great time last time he shared stage with non-Metallica people. Meanwhile, we have to wait for that new Metallica record to be finished and released at some point this year.
