Back in 2003, Clutch brought a relatively new band on the road with them for a tour in September. That band was Mastodon, touring behind their first album, Remission. The following year, Clutch vocalist Neil Fallon appeared on “Blood and Thunder,” a standout track from their sophomore album, Leviathan. So it’s safe to say the two bands are comfortable with each other. While Mastodon has since grown to one of the larger metal bands around, signing to a major, Clutch have grown as well, maintaining their presence as a band that’s made their name on the road, also forming their own label.
The two bands have joined together for the “Missing Link” tour, which brought them both to a venue they’d never played before – New York City’s Summer Stage in Central Park. With the tour wrapping up later this week, photographer Melinda Oswandel was on hand to capture the show, which also included Graveyard. The evening drew to a close with Fallon reprising his role on “Blood and Thunder,” showing that the band’s relationship is still as strong as it was 12 years ago.
