It’s been ten years since System of a Down have written a new album, which is almost approaching Tool territory. But according to an interview with bassist Shavo Odadjian, the band have some new songs written, and there’s a “very good chance” they’ll be hitting the studio before too long. Madcap Music Review caught up with the bassist in advance of their “Wake up the Souls” tour to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide , and when asked if the band would be heading to the studio, Odadjian replied:
“Very good chance, I don’t have a date. We’ve already gone, we’ve written some songs. We’re keeping it to ourselves, we’re getting back to the bullshit of being together…”
While many System of a Down fans were hopeful that they would actually write some music after announcing the tour, this seems to be the first official word from anyone in the band that they’re actually going to be following through and recording new music.
