With a combined age of 38, Brooklyn’s Unlocking the Truth haven’t released a CD yet, but after being discovered playing in Times Square last year, the preteens have gone on to score a label deal that could be worth $1.7 million dollars (but probably won’t be). And now they have something else to check off their list – appearing on a late night talk show. The band appeared on The Colbert Report last night, which is notable in that Colbert rarely has musical guests on, let alone relatively unknown ones. The band announced that their EP that’s coming out later this year will be called Free As You Wanna Be. In their segment, they discussed how they formed and how the band came up with their name. They also performed “Monster,” which will be the first single from the EP. Frankly, the song sounds better every time we hear it, and it’s pretty impressive that they got a chance to play it for the nation. I mean, what were you doing when you were 13?
