tate's queensrycheA few days ago, Queensryche’s Michael Wilton mentioned in an interview that the battle over who got to use the name “Queensryche” had reached an “amicable settlement.” In one corner, we had original vocalist Geoff Tate, who’d left the band and formed his own version of Queensryche. In the other, we had three original members of the band, including Wilton, Scott Rockenfield and Eddie Jackson. Wilton said they’d be issuing a press release soon, but Tate appears to have beat them to the punch.

Visitors to Queensryche.com now see the header “Geoff Tate: The Voice of Queensryche.” Among the links at the top of the page is “Queensryche Without Geoff Tate,” which leads to Queensrycheofficial.com, or the other version of the band with Todd LaTorre. I guess we weren’t that far off the mark when we said there might be a version called “Geoff Tate’s Queensryche” the other day. It appears that the version with more Queensryche members in it has won the rights to the name Queeensryche, even if Tate gets to keep the web site. Now there will be slightly less confusion as to which version of the band is which. Public opinion seemed to be with the LaTorre-led version, at least from a sales standpoint..
