Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
I honestly wasn’t aware that Memphis May Fire was that popular. Anyways, an excellent top 5 debut for the band, but it’s the second highest debut that’s got us excited. How well can a progressive metal band consisting of three members and no singer do in terms of sales? Very well, actually. When a band like Animals As Leaders is so successful, it says a lot not only about metal, but music in general and how musicianship is appreciated in this day and age. Sure, there are other great similar acts that predate Animals As Leaders (Pelican, Russian Circles to name a few), but this is quite the breakthrough. But enough gushing; enjoy the charts.

At week 40, this has reached over 250,000 sold.

I wonder if the band wanted to title this Restoring Balance To The Force, but couldn’t because, you know, copyright.

35 weeks on the charts and this is over 370,000 sold.

50 weeks later, this is still selling pretty consistently with just under 200,000 sold.

This sells about the same amount as last week.
