garageDo you love the idea of Beatallica, but fancy yourself more of a Billy Joel fan than a Beatles enthusiast? You’re in luck. A tipster (thanks Joey from FMQB!) let us know about For Whom the Bell Joels, which is exactly what it sounds like: a Billy Joel tribute band that does metal versions of songs by the Piano Man. Granted, these guys don’t seem as polished as Beatallica, and instead of taking on the Metallica canon as well as Joel’s, they seem to only do heavy versions of Billy Joel songs. In fact, other than the awesome band pic, what we like the most about FWTBJ is the bassist’s name, Joelson Newstonjillo. The band’s gotten a thumbs up from none other than Billy Joel’s drummer, Liberty DeVitto, though, so they could be on their way up. For now, they’re playing around the New York area, and you can catch them at Le Pouisson Rouge on 12/29. Their site has studio covers of “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” and “Pressure,” so you can get your Joel on there.
