Today is King’s X drummer Jerry Gaskill’s 56th birthday. 2012 was a tough year for him. First, he suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized for a month. Thankfully he was able to make a recovery. Midway through the year, it was announced that the band would tour again. However, his troubles weren’t over yet. His home was devastated by Superstorm Sandy last year, and he and his wife (pictured) launched a fundraising campaign to help. In other King’s X news, frontman and bassist Dug Pinnick announced on the band’s Facebook page that he’s currently undergoing treatment for a lymph mode problem. Additionally, guitarist Ty Tabor just released a solo album, Nobody Wins When Nobody Plays. So here’s hoping that Dug gets better and Gaskill has an awesome birthday, and if you need a King’s X fix, you’ve got a solo album to pick up.
