Tool drummer Danny Carey was in distress over losing his “very intelligent” brindle Boxer Levi, as anyone who has a dog would be. Whether Tool fans could sympathize or not (see Facebook comments) and realize that the magical man behind the kit is actually a real-life human being, the 5-year-old dog has been found. Maybe the amber alert posted Friday on Facebook helped, but the point is that the two besties have been reunited and all is well in Carey land. Carey isn’t the first metal musician to run into pooch problems – Mastodon’s Brent Hinds lost and was reunited with his dog earlier this year.
So much so that he will be performing 9:30 tonight in Studio City, Ca. at the infamous Baked Potato jazz club. Tool’s page advises fans to arrive early for the performance. And no, there is no word on new music from the band as a unit, but seeing Carey play on “Monday Night Jammz” with a cast of jazz musicians should be enough of a temporary holdover. Remember, patience is a virtue. Soak up the genius that is Carey now in a small venue and stay in the moment.
