Hecklers can be handled both elegantly and not so elegantly. And if you happen to be a frontman who was recently given the boot by former bandmates, the last thing you probably want is someone being a jerkoff at your show. Last Saturday night (March 9) at Irving Plaza, Scott Weiland confronted a heckler during a show with his solo band, The Wildabouts. Actually, Weiland went ahead and straight up challeged the fan to a fight during his rant, which read as follows:
“So you’re fucking pulling that fucking, like, gun shit off on me? Then come up and meet me one on one, man. You play a tough guy from an audience behind a barricade. I’d love to. Yeah, that guy, trust me. I just don’t get it. Guys like you fucking waste your money. Actually, let him stay here and just get all fucking riled up. He won’t be able to sleep tonight.”
Actually, Weiland seems pretty mellow in the video despite him egging the guy on. As far as frontman-flipping-out-at-show goes, Weiland could have thrown a bigger tantrum (all things considered). See video of the altercation for yourself online.
