Well, it may be the 4th week in the Big Brother house, but due to a twist the veterans who were just in the game as coaches, are now players. On last Thursday night’s show – three of the four coaches decided to hit a “Reset Button” but all it took was one and the game would essentially start over with 12 houseguests. So, welcome to the start of Big Brother 14.
Of the 12 houseguests, four of them are returning players and eight of them are new players. This would be a perfect opportunity for the “newbies” to reset and start from scratch to work together for the first time all year and get the veterans out. Things started well for the newbies. In the first Head of Household competition Danielle won a grueling 3+ hour endurance competition. Our Metalhead friend Jenn Arroyo did not do so well, as she was the 2nd one off. In the fake season, Jenn was not much of a threat because she was not doing well in the competitions she was in, and I am sure most of us were hoping now would be the time Jenn stepped up her physical game. Unfortunately, she failed to come through. I will tell you these physical competitions are a lot harder than they look on TV. Jenn’s early elimination from this challenge kept her right where she was in the game before the reset. Not a threat. Hey, it was working well for her before, and with a newbie in power this week, it is still working well for her now. Danielle decided to nominate two of the stronger newbies Jenn’s ex-teammate Frank (AGAIN) & Wil. But after also winning the Power of Veto, Danielle made one of the ballsiest moves in BB history by pulling Wil off the block & replacing him with one of the most popular players to ever play the game Janelle. Janelle was on Season 6 where she came in 3rd place, and returned the next season on All-Stars where she also came in 3rd place. For Danielle to make such a huge move and blindside/backdoor Janelle has won her praise and hatred through the Big Brother community by fans and ex-players alike.
There is now a power alliance of 3 newbies (Frank, Danielle, Shane) and 3 veterans (Dan, Britney, & Mike ‘Boogie’), calling themselves The Silent Six. Jenn is not in this alliance, and actually has started talking game (about time) with the weaker players still left in the house, Ashley, Wil, & Joe. Jenn’s ex-coach Boogie has all but given up talking to her since he no longer needs Jenn to go further in the game to help him win $.
Being on the outs with Boogie and working with the smaller group may not guarantee Jenn much more time in the Big Brother house. But by her not doing well in competitions, this will keep her off the other player’s radars for now. Even if she goes home and does not win the big prize, she has had some good luck in the past 2 weeks, receiving $1000 in last week’s coaches competition – and this week winning a Maui vacation in the Power of Veto contest that will air tonight on CBS.
All hope is not lost, as we have seen so far this season, the power goes back and forth, and with the game reset, there will be a lot of game to be played in a short amount of time. There will come a time when Jenn will have to start winning competitions to keep herself safe. She has not pissed anyone off, and seems to be well liked in the house as a person. Even though it is a game, some players play it personal – so Jenn may be able to navigate her way through the Big Brother minefield, and step up at the end.
