Back in March, DevilDriver revealed that they had parted ways with longtime label home Roadrunner Records. With this, they quickly became one of the hottest metal free agents on the market. And today, DevilDriver have confirmed that their search for a new label has ended, having just inked a deal with (drum roll please)… Napalm Records.
Frontman Dez Fafara had the following to say about their new label home:
“I am proud to announce DevilDriver’s new partnership with Napalm Records! They have the passion and the drive we as a band were looking for! I’m looking forward to working together on DevilDriver’s next release! Hail the groove!”
Markus Riedler, Napalm Records CEO, added the following:
“We are extremely excited to have this outstanding band on our label roster. DevilDriver are a true metal monster full of primal energy and more than ready to conquer the world with their upcoming album that will be released in the Fall of 2013. Join the metal brotherhood and get ready for the world’s largest circle pit!”
As you are reading this, you may be thinking to yourself “Whoa, really?! Napalm Records?!” Nothing against the Austrian indie label, but considering the other indie metal labels that were likely in the hunt that have snapped up band ( like eOne), it’s a bit of a left turn. But hey, if they were able to get the best deal from Napalm, and in return will also get the label support needed, then good for them. They’re definitely one of the most high-priority bands on the label, which will benefit them. DevilDriver’s next album is tentatively due out in 2013.
