To the delight of musical nerds and people that like seeing Alec Baldwin sing, the film adaptation of the smash Broadway show Rock of Ages is coming out next week. You’ve already gotten to see the trailer, and it makes Moulin Rouge look like Rambo. If in case you’re not convinced that this movie is going to do for ’80s rock what Reality Bites did for generation X (read, lazy overgeneralizations and cliches), the soundtrack has leaked in advance of its release tomorrow, and you can listen above. If you’re a Glee fan, you’ll probably enjoy this. If not, then you should probably move on to the next post.
Also, to capitalize on the movie, Def Leppard have rerecorded the movie’s title track as well as “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” and not surprisingly, they sound like the originals, only not as good. If you’re into that sort of thing, they’re streaming over at Noisecreep. If not, then we can all pretend this movie isn’t coming out on June 15. The two tracks will be available to purchase on online music stores following the band’s performance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno tonight. It will mark the first time Def Leppard’s music has ever been (legally) available digitally. Way to be cutting edge and keep up with the times, guys!
