There were a few surprises that occurred during Adrenaline Mob’s debut show in NYC last Summer. The most memorable one, though, was their cover of Duran Duran’s “Come Undone.” It took me and fellow fans in attendance a few seconds to realize what exactly we were hearing. But to say that Mike Portnoy and gang put their own spin on the pop song is somewhat of an understatement.
Those who didn’t get to catch them live last year will hear what we’re talking about soon, as the supergroup recorded said cover for their debut full length Omertà. As an added bonus, Adrenaline Mob tapped Halestorm vocalist Lzzy Hale for a guest appearance on their rendition of “Come Undone.” And continuing with the tradition of posting snippets of songs on their Facebook page, Adrenaline Mob have just released a sample of the Duran Duran cover.
Though only about 90 seconds long, the teaser continues to highlight Adrenaline Mobs’ hard rock accessibility. Plus, it is pretty cool to hear how they were able to transform “Come Undone” from this to what you hear in the video above. However, it’s really Hale’s singing that stands out the most. Whether you’re a fan of Halestorm or not, it’s undeniable that she has some damn powerful pipes.
You can listen to the snippet of Adrenaline Mob’s “Come Undone” cover above. More samples from their new album Omertà, which comes out on March 13 via Elm City Music (in conjunction with EMI Label Services), can be heard at the band’s Facebook page.
