Australian dark folk/blackgaze outfit Suldusk have unveiled details about their upcoming album, Anthesis, out March 1, 2024, via Napalm Records. Following the success of their 2019 debut, Lunar Falls, Suldusk are ready with their next chapter. Founded as a solo project by Emily Highfield, the group has expanded its lineup for their upcoming sophomore offering. The decision behind adding members is to enhance the intensity and power of their acoustic-based music.

The album blends dark folk, blackgaze, post-rock, prog, doom, and black metal elements, creating a distinctive style. Emily’s vocals blend between fragility and demonic screams, now accompanied by male vocal harmonies from Shane Mulholland. The forthcoming album was produced and mixed by Troy Mccosker, with mastering by Thomas “Plec” Johansson (Soilwork, Opeth, Katatonia). Guest appearances have broadened the record with artists, including Raphael Weinroth-Browne (Leprous) and Rachelle Harvey on cello.

Anthesis invites listeners into a gloomy, dark world where emotions are concealed beneath layers of sound. Suggested for fans of Myrkur, Oathbreaker, and Chelsea Wolfe, Suldusk are recommended to be on your radar. To showcase what’s to come, the group has shared a mesmerizing video for the title track.

Emily Highfield comments:

“We are very excited to finally release ‘Anthesis’, which is the title track and first single off the upcoming album. Lunar Falls was a one woman project, but the new album is a band venture. This has enabled SULDUSK to delve even deeper musically, lyrically and as a live experience. Many thanks to the loyal fans for being ever so patient, and to the great team at Napalm Records. Much love, Emily.”
