Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Artusha’s Caylon Landers as he’s been spending this time getting more creative.
What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?
We’ve all been brainstorming and using the time to come up with new material, as well as working on our individual skills. I personally create most of our artwork/graphics so i’ve been spending more time with that and getting better/more creative as a graphic designer. Brian’s picked up a passion for skateboarding which is awesome. David’s been spending a lot of time with recording/engineering and video production/editing so it’s been time well spent. We’re excited to put all of these things into motion when we can again.
Have you been listening to any music or have any playlist worth checking out?
I spend a lot of time listening to music while doing things, around the house, working on the pc, at work, etc. I’ve been discovering some artists through YouTube such as Orbit Culture, Rottengraffty, to name a couple. I really enjoy japanese metal bands and have been listening to Maximum the Hormone as an example, for about 10+ years now. A lot of those bands have a wild and unique style and it’s just kickass. Love it.
A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?
Never been much of a breakfast food person, and more of a dinner food at all hours type, but I have taken a liking to making omelettes stuffed with cheese recently.I love to cook. Cooking for me, is another way to be creative and try new things, similarly to music. I love spicy stuff and I’m quite the hot sauce guru. At one time my fridge door was nothing but various hot sauces.
In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?
I’ve caught up on some newer seasons of The Walking Dead, watched a couple different movies like Cabin in the Woods, The Last Airbender. I play games like Smite, which is slightly similar to League of Legends, and some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PS4. I spend more time watching Twitch/Youtube content vs. playing much myself lately.
What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?
Use the time to practice, be creative and try new things/experiments. Stay busy. It’s easy to feel the effects of isolation when you’re idle. No time spent doing things you love, is time wasted. Much love, stay safe, and let’s hope for better days full of shows and new music to come soon!
