Mastodon’s Brent Hinds is a creature of habit. Not only has he claimed to not like metal once again, he’s also returning to Game of Thrones this upcoming season. Hinds was on a climactic episode of Season 5 of the show two years ago, along with bandmates Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor, and it appears that it went over well enough that they were asked to return. While appearing on Jamey Jasta’s podcast, Hinds said that his second appearance on the show was shot some time after he broke his leg back in November.
I just came back from my second cameo Game of Thrones. This time, I had my broken leg and they were like “you’re doing the best zombie walk, we want you to come right towards the camera. I want you to drag this axe behind you.” I’m like a reborn, come to life wildling turning into a White Walker.
He added that it was shot, like last time, in Belfast, Ireland. It’s not clear whether the rest of the band was also on the shoot, but if they are, they’ll join pop star Ed Sheeran, who also filmed a cameo for this season. Season 7 of Game of Thrones will debut on July 16th. And hey, because it’s a great song, let’s listen to “White Walker” from the Game of Thrones: Catch the Throne mixtape.
