As we finalized our favorite albums of 2016, it looks like there’s a bright future ahead of us in metal for 2017. January alone includes one of the most anticipated albums of the year. As this week has finally wrapped up, many can kick off their vacation with this week’s best videos!

5) Eternal Idol – “Awake In Orion”

Noteworthy vocalist Fabio Lione (Rhapsody of Fire, Angra), kicked off a new musical journey with Eternal Idol. Formed earlier this year and by December 2nd their debut album The Unrevealed Secret was born via Frontiers Music. Incorporating a new style, Lione revealed a different side of himself which can be seen in the new video “Awake In Orion.”

4) Asphyx – “Candiru”

Dutch death metallers Asphyx released Incoming Death (Century Media) in late September and it is one of the best albums of 2016. Continuing to promote the callous album by unleashing a video for the opening track “Candiru.” Live footage for this video was recorded at this years Turock Open Air in Essen Germany. Vocalist Martin van Drunen explained,”A no-nonsense, non-compromising 3-riff-containing fast Asphyx death metal track. A gory story about a revolting little fish from the Amazon that can nest itself in human genitals to suck blood after it gets there via the urine stream. Only removable through amputation, so be careful where you relieve yourselves, folks!”

3) Voivod – “Post Society”

Canadian progressive thrashers Voivod surprised us this week, unveiling the new music video for the title track off of their EP Post Society, released earlier this year. Hopefully, this video is a promotion for a promised full length studio album in 2017.

2) Sepultura – “Phantom Self”

Just a few weeks away until Sepultura’s new album Machine Messiah that will be released on January 13th via Nuclear Blast. The new video for “Phantom Self,” features disturbing images that could describe the reality of our present social lifestyle.

1)Kreator – “Satan is Real”

The Holidays have arrived and German titans Kreator gave everyone a satanic gift with a video for the new song “Satan is Real.” While many will leave cookies out for an alleged Santa Claus, I will be blasting this video as I wait for the highly anticipated album Gods of Violence set to release on January 27th via Nuclear Blast Records.
