Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

Summer is more or less here, which means you can expect some seesawing of sales thanks to all those touring festivals. And while Mayhem won’t be one of them this year, that doesn’t mean metal bands aren’t going to get their due especially now that that the heavy acts of Vans Warped Tour are grouped together in the Monster Energy Party Zone. Also, this summer is not short on releases both in quality and quantity. It feels like we put out a debut list of 8-10 bands on average these days, and today’s edition of MBN is no exception.

 

Notable Debuts:

Thrice, To be Everywhere is to be Nowhere (Vagrant) #8, 21,250 sold

The band’s first album in fives years is their highest charting since Vheissu in 2005.

 

Lacuna Coil, Delirium (Century Media) #16, 13,050 sold

Album eight manages to outdo its 2014 predecessor.

 

Death Angel, The Evil Divide (Nuclear Blast) #33, 6,375 sold

Following their first foray into the top 100 in 2013, the band’s eighth album does even better than its predecessor.

 

Architects, All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us (Epitaph) #37, 5,525 sold

This is the band’s best debut yet in the US.

 

Jim Breuer and The Loud & Rowdy, Songs from the Garage (Metal Blade) #116, 1,600 sold

Comedian Jim Breuer’s new band makes its debut.

 

Of Mice & Men, Live At Brixton (Rise) #181, 1,100 sold

This is the band’s first live album.

 

Six Feet Under, Graveyard Classics IV – The Number of the Priest (Metal Blade) 530 sold

Another covers album from Six Feet Under complete with clever wordplay.

 

Hesitation Wounds, Awake For Everything (6131) 450 sold

This is the debut LP from the metalcore supergroup fronted by Jeremy Bolm of Touché Amoré.

 

Withered, Grief Relic (Season of Mist) 350 sold

This is the band’s first album in six years.

 

Suicidal Angels, Division of Blood (NoiseArt) 240 sold

This is album six for this Greek thrash band.

Disturbed, Immortalized (Reprise) #26, 7,250 sold

A 22% drop with nearly 395,000 sold. Meanwhile, “Sound of Silence” is the 18th-biggest selling download in the country and has sold almost 750,000 so far.

 

Pierce the Veil, Misadventures (Fearless) #38, 5,400 sold

A 46% drop due to misadventure.

 

Issues, Headspace (Rise) #69, 2,875 sold

A steep second week 84% drop.

 

Five Finger Death Punch, Got Your Six (Prospect Park) #70, 2,700 sold

Over 356,000 sold.

 

Rob Zombie, The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser (UMe) #72, 2,625 sold

A 30% drop with over 60,000 sold.

 

Hatebreed, The Concrete Confessional (Nuclear Blast) #99, 1,900 sold

Concrete evidence of a 42% drop.

 

Deftones, Gore (Reprise) #108, 1,725 sold

Over 100,000 sold after a 24% drop.

 

Shinedown, Threat To Survival (Atlantic) #127, 1,550 sold

A big boost is followed by a big drop of 51%.

 

Saosin, Along The Shadow (Epitaph) #133, 1,475 sold

A drop of 87% in week two.

 

Sixx:A.M., Prayers for the Damned (Eleven Seven) #135, 1,450 sold

A 59% drop.

 

Megadeth, Dystopia (Tradecraft/UMe) #137, 1,425 sold

A 42% drop with just under 120,000 sold.

 

Bring Me The Horizon, That’s The Spirit (Columbia) #159, 1,225 sold

Last week’s 15% boost is followed by a 15% drop.

 

DevilDriver, Trust No One (Napalm) #161, 1,225 sold

Can’t trust a 50% drop.

 

Babymetal, Metal Resistance (RAL) #182, 1,100 sold

Babymetal are back on the charts and inching towards 30,000 sold.

 

Katatonia, The Fall of Hearts (Peaceville) 860 sold

A 77% fall in week two.

 

Gruesome, Dimensions of Horror (Relapse) 680 sold

A 57% second week drop.

 

Flotsam and Jetsam, Flotsam and Jetsam (AFM) 400 sold

A 66% drop.

 

Kvelertak, Nattesferd (Roadrunner) 360 sold

A 58% drop in week three is natt good.

 

Erra, Drift (Sumerian) 340 sold

This continues to drop and return to the charts.

 

Fallujah, Dreamless (Nuclear Blast) 340 sold

A drop of 17% isn’t so dreamy, but it’s sold about 7,000 so far.

 

Red Sun Rising, Polyester Zeal (Razor & Tie) 340 sold

Wasn’t redy for a drop of 53%.

 

Gorguts, Pleiades’ Dust (Season of Mist) 340 sold

Gutted by a 54% drop.

 

Destruction, Under Attack (Nuclear Blast) 270 sold

Attacked by a 20% drop.

 

Texas Hippie Coalition, Dark Side of Black (Carved) 250 sold

A 45% drop.

 

Haken, Affinity (InsideOut) 220 sold

No affinity for a 37% drop.

 

Ice Nine Kills, Every Trick In The Book (Fearless) 200

A 10% boost brings this up again.
