scallonmasterRob Scallon might be the biggest banjo artist since Kermit the Frog picked up one to sing about rainbows. He’s definitely bought the instrument to metal in a new way, covering Slayer’s “Angel of Death” on the instrument as well as Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” He’s pretty good at figuring out when something works well, because he’s back for another banjo Metallica cover, and this time it’s even more epic.

His cover of “Master of Puppets” adds more instruments than just the banjo. A stand-up bass, because why the hell not? And instead of a guitar solo, there’s a keytar solo played solely for laughs. Sacrilege? Maybe, but the whole thing still sounds pretty great. The dual banjo solo is maybe a better use of dueling banjos than the Deliverance theme song. Scallon promises that this is “May-tallica,” so we might not have heard the last Metallica/Scallon production.
