It’s been exactly a year since Amon Amarth parted ways with their long time drummer Fredrik Andersson for unclear reasons aside from things not working out for each other. Since then, the band went to the studio to record their latest upcoming album Jomsviking, set to be released this coming Friday (25) with the help of former Vomitory drummer Tobias Gustafsson as a session member.
Now that the band is getting ready to start touring in support of Jomsviking, we have word on who’s going to sit behind the kit: October Tide and Valkyrja’s drummer Jocke Wallgren.
The band introduced the new guy into their ranks in the video below and it seems like Wallgren will be just doing live performances for the vikings and not joining full time, unless things fall into place and he decides to stay or gets offered the entire gig. Wallgren will make his live debut with Amon Amarth tonight (Tuesday, March 22) at the Underworld in London, England and will come visits us here in the US next month.
