record release dayWhile Record Store Day is still a little over a month away, there are still labels just starting to let collectors know what they can pick up in their local independent record store on April 16th. Today Warner Bros., who always have a robust offering, released their list, and there’s definitely some stuff for metal fans. Usually, they’ll have something from Mastodon, and that’s not the case this year, but Deftones fans will definitely have something to pick up.

The band’s long out-of-print B-Sides and Rarities will be released on a double-album 3-sided gold vinyl. The fourth side will contain etched artwork. It’ll be the first time the collection, which includes acoustic versions of songs and covers of  songs by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jawbox and Sade, will be released on vinyl and will also come with a DVD of Deftones videos.

Disturbed will be releasing a 12″ picture disc of their latest active rock #1, their cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence.” The b-side will be a previously-unreleased version of the song, so you can have all of the song with none of the Draiman.

Linkin Park fans have something to look forward to as well. The band’s 2008 live album, Road To Revolution, will be released on vinyl for the first time. The numbered, limited edition album is pressed on translucent red vinyl with black splatter, and also includes a DVD of the concert, which was filmed in 2008 at the Milton Keynes National Bowl. And Mike Shinoda’s side project, Fort Minor, will also have their debut album, The Rising Tide, issued for the first time on vinyl It’ll be pressed on Coke-bottle green vinyl

Finally, Muse will issue a 7″ picture disc of “Reapers,” from last year’s Drones. The single will be backed by a live version of the song, from Koln, and will come with a paper drone insert. Of possible interest to metalheads, the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack will be released on black vinyl for the first time, featuring haunting orchestral music from Clint Mansell and the Kronos Quartet. And music from My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way, Tom Petty, Emmylou Harris and The Flaming Lips will also be released. In short, get on over to your local record store on the 16th to pick up some cool stuff and support your favorite artists.
