Late last year, some Kiwis decided to release the comedy horror flick Deathgasm which was centered on a group of metalheads fighting zombies and it was actually really good, by our own account, and well received by the media. Someone (aka Sumerian Record founder Ash Avildsen) must have thought that there’s a hole in the market that metal-related movies could fill, and has decided to come out with his own movie featuring Black Veil Brides frontman Andy Biersack and Asking Alexandria’s guitarist Ben Bruce.
American Satan is a new upcoming movie written and directed by Ash Avildsen and will be about “A young rock band, half from England and half from the US, drop out of college and move to the Sunset Strip to chase their dreams.” The synopsis reads as follow:
“Living in a van, their passion and talent exceed their means to survive. An enigmatic stranger sees their true potential and emotionally manipulates them during a time of weakness. Caught in the middle of a Faustian deal, their music and controversial altercations end up influencing society beyond anything this century has seen, but can they take back control of their destiny before it’s too late?”
It looks like unlike Deathgasm, which was a gory sci-fi movie and a topic metal heads really appreciate, American Satan will have more of a realistic approach, so we’ll have to wait and see how that turns out. Given Ash’s track record with What Now, it looks like he’s turned from the LA dating scene to the LA music scene.
If this doesn’t sound like something you really care about, fear not, as there’s another zombie metal film coming titled Hairmetal Shotgun Zombie Massacre featuring other metal musicians like Slayer’s Tom Araya, Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe, country enthusiast and former Morbid Angel singer David Vincent and more.
As American Satan is still in pre-production and has nothing to show us, check out the trailer for the HMSZM below:
