Machine Head are pretty much an all-in band. If you’re at all interested in the band, you probably know quite a bit about what frontman and guitarist Robb Flynn thinks – about his health, about lineup replacements, about touring, and pretty much anything else. Thanks to his “General’s Journals,” you pretty much have an unfiltered version of Flynn at all times. And now that extends to the band making music.
A 19-minute documentary called “Making ‘Is There Anybody Out There,’ Pt. 1” shows the band making a surprise new song, yes, titled “Is There Anybody Out There,” that will be released as a digital single. The doc, recorded last year, shows the song from Flynn talking about the creation of it, how Flynn writes lyrics, and plenty of shots of the band in the studio creating the song. Anyone that’s interested in seeing how music gets made, specifically on the scale of a band like Machine Head, will want to watch this. Of course, you also get to hear plenty of the new track as it gets made as well.
