Black Sabbath came back a few years ago with the release of their latest album 13 in 2013 and have been on tour ever since but that will stop next year with their Final Tour, which they assure will be their very last effort as a band. Of course, when the tour was announced, the immediate question about a final album came up to which Ozzy Osbourne shut down.
Now, there’s a bit more of reason behind that decision as Osbourne explained News.com.au:
“It’s the end of Sabbath and people have been asking ‘well I thought you were doing an album. But the things we’ve discovered are — number one: People aren’t really interested in hearing new stuff and number two: If we were to do an album before the tour — it would take three or four years to complete the album. We want to end it on a high note.”
The first reason is debatable, considering how everyone ran to the stores to get 13 as if it was the cure for cancer so I’m sure Sabbath’s fanbase is large enough to keep them afloat as musicians if they’d want to; as for the second reason, that definitely make sense because, if you recall, the first time we heard about 13 becoming an album was in 2011 which at that point, was barely halfway done on the writing process. If they decided to do another album, we won’t see it until 2018-2019.
