What’s Ozzy Osbourne up to these days? Well, we’re not sure what’s happening with Black Sabbath yet, but he has stated that after the next Black Sabbath album, there will be an Ozzy Osbourne solo album, his first since 2010’s Scream. That’s a long ways away, and there’s no real timeline. It was back in April when he said that 2016 would be when the next Black Sabbath album came out, and we haven’t really heard anything since. However, Ozzy played at the Epic Fest this past weekend. What’s the Epic Fest? It was the first annual music festival held by the label on the Sony Pictures Lot in Los Angeles featuring some of the label’s biggest acts. And while Ozzy’s set included Sabbath’s “War Pigs,” according to Billboard, it also featured plenty of solo hits, and Epic president Sylvia Rhone mentioned that there will be an Ozzy album coming out.
Rhone also told said Osbourne has an album on the horizon. “It’s going to be a really special album,” she said. “It’s going to be amazing, it’s something Ozzy has never done before that he’s always wanted to do.”
She added that it’s too soon to talk details of the special project.
We’re thinking out loud here, but what would make an Ozzy album special? Maybe lots of guest musicians, and given that he’ll be playing the Voodoo Music Fest on Halloween with Geezer Butler, Tom Morello and Slash, maybe they’ll be joining him in the studio? That’s pure conjecture on our part, but that would be “really special.” We’ll be waiting, Ozz.
