And just like that, another year has almost passed. Who knows what 2012 brings? We can’t predict the future, but the least we could do is ask some people in the metal community what they think might happen, as well as what they’re looking forward to in the coming year.

Mario Duplantier (Gojira)

What are you most excited for in 2012?

Do you have any predictions for 2012?

Slayer will do an album with John Cale.

Mathias Nygård (Turisas)

What are you looking forward to in 2012?

We kick off the year with some Finnish shows and then head off to Australia to play Soundwave festival in February. Can’t wait to change the Finnish dark and cold winter to Australian summer. After OZ we’ll be coming back to the US and Canada to headline the Paganfest tour – something we’re highly looking forward to after playing short supports slots in North America on the last tours we’ve done over there. So Spring is going to be busy touring, but after that I think the plan is to take some time off touring (we’ve been on the road constantly since January 2011) and focus on songwriting and start preparations for a new album.

Do you have any predictions for next year?

I’m sure it’s going to be great for us to get back to territories that we’ve only visited briefly lately and really give our fans their money’s worth! The recent lineup changes have actually done the band good, and the vibe is now better than ever.  It’s also going to be extremely exciting to sit down with these new talented musicians and see what kind of a direction we’ll be heading musically. There’s definitely a new spark in it all, and predict that in 2012 Turisas will be taking the first steps in our next leap forward.

Rick Jimenez (This Is Hell)

What are you most excited for in 2012?

Getting back on the road and recording a collaboration 7″ with Cody B. Ware.

Do you have any predictions for 2012?

We will play a show where we play one song and then spend the rest of our set bullshitting with people on the mic about how to not be a dickhead while moshing, what important wrestler is from their area, how being a racist isn’t ok, and how circle pitting/headbanging is the coolest energy exchange ever.

Emmanuel Jessua (Hypno5e)

What are you most excited for in 2012?

Very excited about releasing Hypno5e’s new album in February. And can’t wait to tour extensively all year long to present our new songs!

Do you have any predictions for 2012?

A HUGE orgy in December!
