As if labels weren’t doing bad enough these days. According to The Associated Press, a former payroll manager at Roadrunner Records has been accused of embezzling nearly $421,000 U.S. through falsified business records.
New York prosecutors are claiming that Sharanda Houser had been stealing from Roadrunner Records for six years prior to being fired for unrelated reasons last year. Houser supposedly submitted bogus expenses in executives’ names and had the reimbursements wired to her.
Houser pleaded not guilty during a hearing this past Friday (June 17), while bail is currently at $25,000. The former payroll manager has quite a crime record, having been convicted in 1999 for stealing $13,000 from an employer in Virgina.
Roadrunner Records has yet to release a statement regarding the incident. We’ll keep you posted if more develops.
