Pantera reunion still not happening says Vinnie Paul

The metal world has been abuzz recently over the many Pantera covers Phil Anselmo has performed with Black Label Society and Kill Devil Hill. Most recently, Anselmo, Rex Brown, and Zakk Wylde all joined together to play “I’m Broken”, making up three of out four members of the proposed and much rumored Pantera reunion. However, it looks like that’s the closest it’s going to get in terms of a reunion as Vinnie Paul has, once again, quashed any hopes of a full-fledged reunion as he has repeatedly done in the past. He offered the following statement:

“If you had an ex-wife, and it was a pretty bitter split, you might not ever want to talk to her again. Who cares if everybody in the family and your friends want you to say hello again? It’s your choice whether you want to do it or not. And I think a lot of people are selfish. They say, ‘Oh, he oughtta just kiss and make up with Phil and everything will be cool. And then they can go get Zakk Wylde and everything’s gonna be great.’ No, everything’s not gonna be great.”

Really, nobody should be surprised about this. In fact, it would be more bewildering if Vinnie Paul did agree to do it. It’s all well and good that we got to see these songs performed again, but if you’re holding out for a reunion you might want to consider letting it go. People do say “never say never”, but you might be better off just listening to the new Down EP instead.
