Two weeks ago, we discussed the possibilities of a new Black Sabbath album and tour after Ozzy revealed that the four members of the original lineup were “talking.” While both Bram and I thought a reunion was likely, bassist Geezer Butler would appear to feel differently. In a posting on his official website, Butler put the rumors to rest by saying the following:
“I would like to make it clear, because of mounting speculation and rumors, that there will be definitely NO reunion of all four original members of Black Sabbath, whether to record an album or to tour.”
So there you have it, Butler pretty much makes it clear about Sabbath’s future (or lack thereof). Bram and I said in the Headbangers’ Brawl column that a new album was less likely to come as quickly, but we both thought that a tour was a definite possibility (at least after Ozzy finishes up his solo tour plans). Yet Geezer’s statement would imply that a Sabbath reunion may never be in the cards. Will the original lineup of Black Sabbath actually never perform together again? Well, they did have an album (and song) called Never Say Die, but then again, they broke up after it came out. We’ll keep you updated if any more information is revealed.
