I know a lot of people who have a love/hate relationship with James LaBrie’s vocals. Some people love how high his voice can go, while others think he sounds like a 9 year old girl. Well, now we know what Dream Theater would actually sound like if they were fronted by a 9 year old girl.

9 year old Sara actually sings for the band Motion Device. The five piece group, also made up of 12, 14, and 17 year olds, hails from Canada and performs a bunch of hard rock covers. They’ve posted many clips of their rehearsals and live shows on YouTube, but one clip that stands out is their cover of Dream Theater’s “Sacrificed Sons” (though their Muse cover is pretty good too). Sara does a solid job singing LaBrie’s parts (especially for a 9 year old), though the rest of the band is very impressive as well. And it looks like Dream Theater agrees, as they invited the young musicians backstage after their show in Toronto last week (October 6).

You can watch Motion Device’s cover “Sacrificed Sons” above, while you can watch Dream Theater themselves performing the song live after the jump.
