Chicago-based industrial rockers Programmable Animal are gearing up for their new EP, One Step to Hell, which is scheduled to arrive later this year. In addition to their harsh ambient beats, the group touches subjects ranging from personal struggles and current events. Today (24th), the band has teamed up with Metal Insider to premiere the video for their new song “Backstabber.” Produced by Sean Beavan (NIN, Marilyn Manson, 3Teeth, Slayer, etc) as the track takes you on a dark journey about those who backstab, lie, cheat, and abuse others for personal gain. The group expresses how these subjects are seen in politics, the media, the music industry, and also in friendships and family.

The group’s Anthony Wonaitis explains:

“I’m tired of the polarization separating us one by one from each other. I’m tired of the liars, cheaters, backstabbers, abusers, narcissists, and everyone causing malevolent actions towards others. I am a product that has been lost, backstabbed, abandoned, deprived, cheated, hurt, haunted, and wronged.. though, I won’t allow that to subjugate me. I will keep on pushing.”
