Legendary Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has left a parting gift in 2025 by confirming his long-awaited solo album will arrive in 2026. Iommi shared a video message on New Year’s Eve to make a full 2025 reflection, expressing how it was a year mixed with both celebration and loss.

Iommi, of course, mentioned the bittersweet reunion with Black Sabbath, taking place in his hometown of Birmingham, when Black Sabbath received the Freedom of the City honor. He expressed how the original Sabbath lineup reunited for rehearsals ahead of the Back to the Beginning charity show and reflected on how the moment was bittersweet, as Ozzy Osbourne passed away just weeks later.

Iommi went on to discuss the milestones he reached for the year, beyond music, including how he helped raise £53,000 for a new cancer unit at Heartlands Hospital through a charity guitar raffle. Towards the end of the clip, Iommi confirmed a new Gibson documentary is on its way and officially closed out by expressing his solo album is finished and scheduled for release in 2026. More details are expected to follow as the year unfolds.

Iommi concluded with:

“And then, of course, in 2026. I shall have definitely, definitely my solo album out. And I’m really looking forward to that. I’m enjoying doing it, and it’s been great fun, and I really hope you enjoy it. But I’ll keep you more up to date as we go on, what’s happening with that and when it’s gonna be released. In the meantime, very happy new year and take care. All the best.”
