That Lincoln ad starring Matthew McConaughey is having a moment. Just a few days after being sent up by Jim Carrey on Saturday Night Live, an ad agency has spoofed the ad once again. This time, instead of McConaughey driving around a Lincoln, it’s a guy that’s driving around in his car, except it’s a 1997 Ford Escort, and he’s trying to sell it to get tickets to see Slayer at the L.A. Forum. It’s pretty awesome, in that Slayer are actually playing the Forum on the 14th. It also acknowledges that the tickets are pretty expensive, which might work a little against the band, but it was still enough for the band’s publicist to send out. There’s a lot of fun details that anyone that owns an older car will get a laugh out of: the clock blinking 12:00, a grind when shifting, a tail light hanging. They definitely got the details right. Props to ad agency merit/andrew for making an entertaining and funny ad, and good luck selling the Escort, which comes equipped with “3 newish tires, new floor mats, and vintage forest green paint.”
