A few weeks back, we got word that former Ozzy Osbourne and current Black Label Society frontman Zakk Wylde was going solo, puzzling those who thought that’s what Black Label Society was (although Book of Shadows 1 was pre-BLS). We got a taste of what his solo endeavors would sound like when he released the first track “Sleeping Dogs” and, unlike the usual gravelly voice he usually does for BLS, this one is a softer track but it wasn’t bad. But it seems like we can hear the same song with Slipknot’s Corey Taylor.
Taylor will lend his voice for the album version of “Sleeping Dogs” so you’ll have two versions of the track on his new album Book of Shadows II which will be released on April 8th. Wylde said about the collaboration:
“Having Father Corey Taylor‘s brilliant voice sing on ‘Sleeping Dogs‘ fulfilled my vision of the two of us as the modern day Simon & Garfunkel. We may not be as legendary, talented or as handsome as those two, but we’ve eaten at some of the same restaurants as them.”
Meanwhile, you can watch the new music video for the song featuring Wylde’s vocals, his bowler hat and some bloody voodoo stuff which totally makes sense with the tone of the song.
