Serj Tankian reached heights of fame as the lead singer of the heavy metal band System of a Down. But now the singer, songwriter, composer, visual artist, activist has built quite the solo career for himself. Creating on many levels, Tankian has released “Entitled,” and “Film Piano” off of the album Illuminate from his Cinematique series of records. Violent Violins is the other album due out at the same time on August 6th and will display a more modern style.
Tankian recently released “Cool Gardens Poetry Suite,” which features Tankian performing his poetry amid music scored by Tankian himself. “Cool Gardens Poetry Suite” is available now on streaming.
Serj has spent most of his time recently focused on movie and video game scores. Tankian has also produced and scored “Truth To Power” and “I Am Not Alone,” two documentaries which will see audiences by the end of the year.
