Last year, when the trailer for the forthcoming Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers reboot aired, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that a bully in one of the scenes was wearing a Thy Art is Murder shirt. That could’ve been chalked up to someone liking the design of the shirt, or perhaps the director being an actual metal fan. While we’re still not sure who the love of metal comes from with the Power Rangers film, Metal Sucks have found out that a Revocation song appears in the film, which will be out on March 24th.
Revocation’s “Communion,” from last year’s Great is Our Sin, will be featured in the film. Perhaps maybe when the bully is being bully-like, but hopefully in an action scene. The rest of the soundtrack is full of stuff you would expect in a blockbuster film, like Twenty One Pilots, The Raconteurs, Tove Lo and Destiny’s Child. Kanye West is in the trailer. However, it gets a little indie cred with the inclusion of Explosions in the Sky as well. Here’s the movie’s synopsis:
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.
Directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac), Saban’s Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, featuring Bill Hader, with Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Banks. The screenplay is by John Gatins (Kong: Skull Island, Real Steel) and story is by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold) and Michele Mulroney & Kieran Mulroney. Producers are Haim Saban, p.g.a. (“Power Rangers” creator), Brian Casentini, p.g.a. (“Power Rangers” TV series), and Marty Bowen, p.g.a. and Wyck Godfrey, p.g.a. (The Twilight Saga, The Fault in Our Stars, The Maze Runner franchise.
