Two of The Dillinger Escape Plan’s original members have collaborated on an as-yet untitled new project.
Vocalist Dimitri Minikakis and guitarist Ben Weinman are cooking something up and have released the first taste of what it could be. The guys, plus drummer Eric Schnee (Organ Dealer) released a song on December 31 through Weinman’s Patreon page titled “Choir Boy.”
Though the stream of the full song is for patrons only, a 15 second clip of the track can be heard on The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Facebook page.
The Dillinger Escape Plan disbanded in 2017 after two decades together, ending things with a three-night run at New York’s Terminal 5. Minikakis, who had left the band in 2001, joined the band for these shows, performing songs from Calculating Infinity and the Under The Running Board EP (his only two albums as a member) with them as a final farewell.
Since leaving the Dillinger Escape Plan, Minikakis has been doing graphic design and has even created artwork for his former bandmates.
After the band’s break-up, Weinman has been playing guitar for Suicidal Tendencies and Giraffe Tongue Orchestra.
No word yet on if or when there will be more from this group in the future, or when “Choir Boy” will be available for wider listening.
