The Miami metalcore outfit Acaedia have been quite busy since they released their debut EP 2015’s Dawning. The group has continued to excel on their craft as they’ve explored through their musical influences from acts Architects, Misery Signals, and Betraying the Martyrs. The band has also combined a variety of styles together including djent, post-hardcore and death metal to enhance their explosive beats. Today (22nd), the group has unveiled the first piece of new music since their 2018 single “I,” by premiering the Joey Durango directed music video for the song “Headstrong.” While there’s no news on a new album, the group plans to release more tunes sometime during the summer.
Frontman Ray Jimenez commented about the track:
“Headstrong is a song that shows a different side of Acaedia. Though the song doesn’t fully stray away from our heavy and energetic sound, it does bring out a mellow and melodic aspect of the band with emphasis on clean vocals. What makes the song even more special is what our friend and director, Joey Durango, was able to achieve visually with the official music video. The song tackles the idea that nature is not out to get anyone; things just happen. It’s up to us to decide if we’ll dig a hole for ourselves to dwell on our misfortunes, or pick ourselves back up and pave a new path of success. By combining organic life and technology, Joey was able to portray an internal struggle of deciding if one should accept reality or reside in a virtual utopia where we are safe. This was the first time we employed a full set that was built exclusively for this song. We honestly can’t wait for everyone to listen and watch what we’ve come up with.”
