Last night (January 26), Gigantour kicked off at the Susquahana Bank Arena, in Camden, NJ. The start of the first Gigantour in the States since 2008 also proved to include some special highlights. First up, Megadeth were joined by Lacuna Coil singer Cristina Scabbia for a rendition of “A Tout Le Monde.” Though it originally appeared on 1994’s Youthansia, Megadeth rerecorded the song for 2007’s United Abomination with a guest appearance from Scabbia. Seeing that Lacuna Coil will be playing Gigantour’s entire run, it’s very likely that Scabbia will continue to join Megadeth onstage throughout the tour.
Another highlight from the show came from Volbeat earlier in the night. Their set in Camden, NJ marked the first time they performed with Mercyful Fate guitarist Hank Shermann. As you may recall, Volbeat tapped Shermann to fill in for ex-guitarist Thomas Bredahl. Whether Shermann will continue to perform with Volbeat is still unclear, but they definitely sounded great together in videos we saw of last night’s show.
You can watch fan filmed footage of Megadeth performing “A Tout Le Monde” with Cristina Scabbia above, while multiple clips of Volbeat’s first show with Hank Shermann can be seen after the jump.
