With a new album, Heaven Upside Down, coming next Friday, Marilyn Manson is currently on tour in support of it. Speaking of support, he might need some after allegedly breaking his ankle last night during his show at Pittsburgh’s AE Live. During “The Beautiful People,” the last song of their regular set, Manson appeared to be trying to get closer to the crowd, and he fell offstage. You hear the mic hit the ground, then Manson eventually crawls back onstage and stands back up. The band soldiers on, perhaps not realizing what’s happened, as Manson walks offstage.
When the band finally stopped, Manson hobbled back onstage, saying “I just broke my ankle but it’s ok because Alice Glass is going to fill in for me.” He then bizarrely said “I told you I’d break my ankle because my tour manager is a fascist.” Glass sang a chorus of the song, and Manson remained standing onstage, which is inconsistent with someone that broke an ankle. Also, according to Setlist.fm, the band closed “Coma White” as an encore, presumably with Manson singing. Given that this was only the second date of his American tour, if Manson actually broke his ankle, it could be a tough go, but from the way he walked around onstage afterwards, he might have only sprained it. The band are scheduled to play tonight in New York at Hammerstein Ballroom.
